Timna started out in the music business when she was 17 as a member of the group "NSS16" ("Not So Sweet Sixteen"). The group was founded and produced by the singularly gifted writer/producer Greg "G Block" Lawson (Queen Latifah, Jennifer Lopez). The group made an album for Tommy Motolla's Casablanca Records/ Universal Records before breaking up in typical major label fashion.

G Block hooked Timna up with veteran producer
Richard "Wolfie" Wolf's Tonepoet Records/The Producers Lab, and the records Wolf produced took off immediately, earning club play and featured spots in scores of episodes and programs including:
- "The Hills" (MTV)
- "One Tree Hill" (CW)
- "Days of Our Lives" (NBC)
- "America's Next Top Model" (CW/MTV)
- "All My Children" (ABC)
- "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" (NBC)
- "Online Nation" (CW)
- "War At Home" (FOX)
- "Southland" (NBC)
- "One Life to Live" (ABC)
- "Hidden Palms" (CW)
